A YouTuber has proven that Yor Forger's supposedly "impossible" hairstyle from Spy x Family is actually doable. Yor has become an iconic heroine for fans of the hit series since she debuted in Spy x Family's second episode. However, her hair design has been joked about by creator Tatsuya Endo as being impossible in a gag panel from the manga's third volume. However, one YouTuber has since proven this wrong with a fascinating tutorial video.
YouTube creator Mei Yan shared a video that put Endo's step-by-step guide to replicating Yor's hairstyle to the test, and she managed to prove that it's entirely possible. Mei Yan uses the "cross" method, which is deemed the canon style and highlighted in the second tutorial from Spy x Family Vol. 3's gag page. Despite Franky's interjections in the manga, claiming "I really doubt that would work," Mei Yan manages to perfectly replicate Yor's look.
It's amazing to see that what was likely just a joke at first was ultimately proven possible years after it was published. However, there are some details to Mei Yan's method that could hold the key to how she made it work.

Mei Yan Makes One Small Yet Important Change to Tatsuya Endo's Guide
This Tiny Adjustment Made Yor's Hairstyle a Reality
For the most part, Mei Yan recreates the guide from Spy x Family Vol. 3 perfectly, right down to letting the hair dangle along the ends. However, she makes one notable change that is likely the reason why she made it work. Before she crosses the two halves of her hair over her head as the tutorial suggests in step three, she takes each part and twists them a bit. She then follows the guide from that point forward. It's a subtle change that may go unnoticed by most who watch the video, but it likely holds the key to making this hairstyle possible.
"Structure is key to making hairstyles work, and by providing a small change to the guide, Mei Yan created the strength needed to bring Yor's look to life."
By lightly twisting her hair before crossing the split halves, Mei Yan essentially strengthens the parts that will dangle near her ears, preventing them from falling apart. This allows the hairstyle to have more structure. While Endo's guide doesn't necessarily call for it, it's still a fascinating alteration that allows what was likely fiction when it was created to become reality. Structure is key to making hairstyles work, and by providing a small change to the guide, Mei Yan created the strength needed to bring Yor's look to life.
Mei Yan's Recreation of Yor's Look Makes Fans Wonder if the First Guide is Doable
Is the "Bend and Dangle" Method Possible?
While the "cross" method for Yor's hairstyle has been proven to work, this leaves fans to question if the "initial plan" is possible to replicate as well. This method essentially states that Yor splits her hair into two, then bends the two strands and dangles them over her ears before securing with a headband. It's a far simpler method than the second guide, but with Mei Yan's choice to twist both strands, it could be possible. However, without the two parts crossing over the top of the head, there's not nearly as much structure to the style.
Whether it's possible or not though, it's incredible to know that this guide once deemed as a gag is actually possible. This could change the game for Yor cosplayers as they have a new way to recreate her hairstyle closer to how she's depicted in the series. It's a major mystery solved for Spy x Family fans as YouTuber Mei Yan proves once-and-for-all that Yor's "impossible" style is incredibly doable.
